More on 3 In One Oil and Big Hauler's

Appreciate all the feedback on my previous 3 In One Oil post. That stuff is going to stay with the non train repair stuff for sure. I am going to try out that Wahl oil though. Another item I used before is silicone lubricant both in a spray can and pocket size oiler. I don’t feel good about using it now. Bought a new can the other day and it says “for all surfaces” and the plastic test piece I used it on turned out like it had a white permanant paint job.

I got so enthused about the Bachmann Big Hauler that I opened up the Big Hauler set that I bought at OSH (OSH specific road name version) a few years ago and put it on the tracks. What a piece of junk. This engine and tender are what I call the wobbler edition. Engine wobbles up and down the track and the tender has it’s own distinct wobble. Figured I could live with that as a lot of the stuff the companies sell comes as wobblers now a days. Put about five hours track time on the engine over a couple of days and now it’s got the wobble and the same squeek the other one had.

Have to say that I’ll never buy a Big Hauler again. The only thing I like about this set now is the yellow passenger cars even though they have the OSH logo on them.

Hi Rudy, Try a Bachmann Consolidation I run 2 of them they are great very reliable, will pull 6/7 Jackson Sharp Coaches.

My friend,

If I was to bring in another piece of equipment of that cost my wife would most likely put her foot down right on my …layout[:(]

Hi, my 2 cents on some of it: Wahl hair clipper oil, some swear by it, some swear at it. I’m a fan. I think if you have a problem with Wahl, most likely you put way too much on. Silicon spray, I never use it around plastic, not compatible with all kinds so I don’t chance it. I use Labelle’s sometimes, sometimes Wahl’s. I especially use Wahl’s on axle ends, where it might get thrown onto the track.

Hi Rudy, there are two ways around that problem, 1 A new hat and a day out so she can wear it. 2 a nice evening out with a meal I find that works well. Or as a last resort trade in an item so that a new unit can be purchased and say well it was a good deal. Enjoy our hobby and all wives would soonner have us out doors and not under thier feet. Before I retired two months ago I had the ideal system. Had most of my purchases delivered to where I worked and sneak the stuff in through the side gate to my tool shed. Once in the shed it was just a short haul from there to my train shed [}:)]

I’ve found that diamonds let you get away with multitudes of transgressions!

If I was to spend that kind of money I’d definately forget the diamonds and spend it all on trains[(-D]
