MR Insider Video: N scale convention 2013
I am in HO not N, but I helped at a layout tour and gave a clinic (and saw some clinics that would be worthy of any model train group); I also happened to be at Walthers shopping for trains when their convention bus was there for a tour. There were lots of nice folks at this convention and they all seemed to be having a good time; we hope to see them back in Milwaukee sometime soon.
Maybe it is just my impression or just local pride, but I think the model railroad community in Milwaukee is for the most part less split by scale and gauge than elsewhere. The O and S and Lionel and Flyer and scale HO and N types tend to visit each other’s layouts and enjoy the hobby together, often by being active in the NMRA’s division, the WISE (Wisconisn South Eastern Div – which puts on Trainfest). Based on what some convention guys indicated, it sounds like in other areas the N scale folks would not think of being active in the NMRA which they perceive as being an HO organization.
Excellent show. Sorry I could not go - it’s not that far away from where I live! When and where will the next N-Scale Convention be? Good reporting, David! I love to see your layout in video and photos.
Cheers!
Thank you David. A great professional presentation! Well into the 21st Century, it is time for all scales to join together and incorporate their groups into a whole new reorganized NMRA. This would combine skills, enjoyment, and overall lower operating costs for everyone!
Hat’s off to all the “Mom & Pop” model and toy train makers who manufacture their products in the USA. Exception, Kato. Their precision Japanese quality are second to none!
I hope Mr. Kato will consider entering the Z scale market and MR and the NMRA will start to promote more Z scale. It has become a respected and reconized scale with new products being added every month.
Thank you Micro-Trains and the other manufacturers for their support and promotion of this scale. Great for apartment, condo and trailer house dwellers! What about the garden? Gads, what a thought…
More look at the layouts, rolling stock and less sales PR.
Thanks for this n-scale video. I’ve noticed that MRVP is dedicated overwhelmingly to HO scale (just like Model Railroader). I know that HO scale is the most popular scale, but I believe greater attention should be given to n-scale on MRVP. Thanks for anything you do on n-scale.
