Has anyone installed MRC’S sound decoder for the n-scale kato ac4400. If so how is it’s performance and does it work correctly on a digitrax system.

i put mrc sound decoders into an atlas B 23 7 and an atlas SD 35 and they work well on my empire builder system. the sound is nice and is loud enough in the room where my layout is located. when i take them to my club the sound is lost in the expanse of the large room and is dround out completly by trains running on the ho layout. one drawback of the mrc decoder is that to mute the sound you have to change the value of a cv instead of the mute button on the controller or put them on a track that you can shut off the track power to. these decoders were drop in types but i had to send out the frames to aztec to have them milled for the speaker. i’m going to have several more locos done so i can have one loco in each consist with sound. they do work ok with non sound decoders as the cv 2 can to be adjusted so they all start and run at the same speed.
