MRC Symphony 77 volume control...

Merry Christmas,

The MRC 77 sound system was one of my gifts. It sounds great, but only one speaker has an adjustable volume…the one with the horn/whistle is extremely loud. The manual says this side is a fixed volume, but I’m hoping there is some way to work something out and get it lowered because I have a tiny layout and this thing blows stuff off the track and is way beyond a comfortable level for anybody within 15 feet or so. The speakers that come with the unit are similar to something on a home computer set-up…I was wondering if there is any type of volume control device I can buy to splice in to the speaker cable and not have to break into the electronics or use another compatable computer type speaker that has a volume knob. Hopefully there is something that will work because this set-up is really nice.

Thanks for the help and enjoy the season!

Should be able to use an audio-taper potentiometer in series in the line, but I have no idea of the values to use. Might check with somebody who knows audio setups.
