I was wondering if anyone has any experience/opinions on hte MRC Symphony 77. I am wanting to try this to quickly, though probably temporarily, add sound to my layout. I have been ableto find them wholesale or on e-bay relatively cheap. I found an old post about it but, but it didn’t get an answer.
My issue is I have the MRC Town & Country but have been less than impressed. Especially with the traffic and wind sounds. I don’t want to waste money on it if the sounds are pathetic. They don’t even have to be great, just addiquate to add sound for now until I have time/money for DCC sound.
Good Question, I have been working on my layout for about 8 month , and also want to add quality sound to my DC layout , Do you have a few links to where you found this item in stock…
As I said though, I’m a little leary of buying on until I get an opinion or two from someone. The Town & Country by MRC is basicly the same thing but for background sounds. Most of the country sounds are OK, but the traffic and wind sounds are terrible. If the trains sounds on hte 77 are no better I don’t think it will be worth it.
I would take the lack of responces as a reply to your question. Either people a)have no experience with the MRC 77 or b) they just dont think it is a feasable solution.
Jim, recieved MRC 77 for Christmas and I am pleased with the product , for a DC guy (new to the N scale world) this will really work well until I make the jump over to the DCC…
I posted today to another group member regarding the “77”. I have one and I really like it. It has all the sounds I need. I also added 2 speakers to the 2 that come with the unit. It’ll knock your socks off. You see, I’m almost completely deaf and can hear only with my hearing aid. I can’t hear music or tv. I can hold a conversation with another person from about 4 feet away and that’s it. The “77” allows me to hear the train sounds fairly well tho somewhat distorted because of my type of hearing loss. My family says it sounds like the real thing. So, for me, the “77” does the job. Hope this helps.
