MTH Bump-N-Go Trolley questions

I just ordered a MTH Bump-N-Go Trolley with a DC Transformer to add to the Christmas layout and I’m a little confused about how it works. I just ordered it so I don’t have any instructions or anything to look at except the picture.

I believe that it runs on DC and not AC so I can’t put it on the main line. I also know that the set comes with Realtrax although I bought individual pieces. It also says it will run on O-27, but I was thinking of buying SuperStreets or EZ Streets, but since it DC I’m not sure how it’s connected or if it’s compatible with Lionel products. Are the outside rails connected and does DC polarity matter?

Also I wanted to have an additional vehicle running around the same track, but I don’t know if that’s possible because I don’t know if I have enough room for a loop and I may have to just run back and forth.

So any additional information at this time would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so now I’m really confused. I finally found a manual and it says it will run off of any transformer.

Did I just waist my money buying a MTH 40-200 Z-DC-1 Transformer?

JohnnyB, Sounds to me like you may have. Part # 28 is a Bridge Rectifier that allows the DC motor to run on AC power. [banghead]

They are AC powered. If you can’t return the DC transformer you could always use it to power lights and buildings on the layout.

I was going by the information that I saw listed on the MTH Christmas trolley set. I was going to buy the set, but I wasn’t interested in the track and thought I was saving money. oh well I guess that didn’t go very well. Sometimes I wish I had a model train store nearby so that I can actually look at stuff before I buy.

Luckily I just bought another CW-80 from eBay. Actually I have a whole box of old transformers that I should have used. Some are prewar and some need fixing.

I don’t think it’s will worth returning because I only spent $15 so I guess I’ll have to figure out how to work it. I do have some DC stuff that I could use it on.
