My first attempt at weathering a car...automobile for HO layout.

This is also my first attempt at posting a picture so bear with me.

One of those wally world Malibu cars everyone has gobbled up. The story goes…

This car was first purchased in Texas. The owner drove it hard, for 10 years, and the dust/sand/wind/heat blasted away at the paint job. A young kid bought it and drove it to northern Ohio where the winters have been eating away at it since. The junkyard, or field, is it’s next stop.

Well, for a first time, I’d say you did a good job on it. It looks like it needs a deep cleaning.

Thanks of sharing[tup]

Happy railroading[(-D]

Looks real good, thanks for the idea, I think I’ll get me an old rusted out field car too.

You have done a fine job! I have a bunch of these and they do look rather unrealistically clean and new. Perhaps you will inspire a bunch of us to get on with some auto detailing.

Looks good for a first attempt. I’ve done a couple. I did the blue and white '57. There’s pictures on my Fotki page that might give you some ideas.

Nice job, it looks very realistic.

Same here. I usually avoid classics, but I hadn’t considered making them junkers either. Guess what store I’m heading to later.

Looks great!

Thanks for the compliments. Here is a vw bus. It is just used, not really abused. I added old man Jenkins behind the wheel and have removed the windows on both vehicles…they look fake no matter what i do.

Down south, in their last stage these are known as “yard cars.” [:D]
