My First Tichy Kit Complete!

I completed my first Tichy Train Group rolling stock kit today:

While just a “simple” flat car, it was more challenging then the other kits I’ve assembled. And you know what, I liked it. This particular car is intended to be an idler car between two heavy duty flats carrying a large pipe load.

Congrats. Great job! A much better reward than opening a box and setting on the rails. I love kits also. Too bad they are going the way of the dinosaurs.

Nice job. Nothing beats the satisfaction of finishing a nicely detailed kit.

VERY nice job! [bow] I love those Tichy kits, I’ve built quite a few of them. They’re time-consuming, but beautifully designed and everything goes just where it’s supposed to go and the detailing is really sweet.

Now that you’ve done the flat car, you might want to try their outside braced boxcar or one of their reefer kits. They’re just a heck of a lot of fun, and make into wonderful models.

Congratulations.

Good work, congratulations.

Always remember, it’s the time you spent with fun. And building such a kit takes time and gives much fun.

Good spent money.

Thanks guys.

I do like the Tichy kits, although, there aren’t very many that fit my 70s timeframe. I think I’m going to try the boom car next. I have an Athearn wreck crane, but the boom car dissapeared somewhere along the way.

I tackled a Tichy tank car last year, and boy was that thing a lot of work, but it is the type of work I really enjoy. As stated above, they put a lot of work into their kits to make sure they go together right. I was really impressed with how it said in the instructions that they use a paintable mold release (although I still wash all my stuff).

The flat car looks great!!! If you are like me, the kits that take that much effort are my favorite pieces of rolling stock.
