my new lokie

PCM Y6b, no sound no lettering, but I bought a loksound 2-8-8-2 dcc sound module ahead expecting this arrival.

Ran fine in DC, so I popped the loksound in.

blah, the sound is all wrong for this engine, but it ran just superbly on DCC, cranked my test train around like it was pulling with its pinky finger. I will find the right sound module, and use this one for maybe one of my 2-6-6-6’s, or maybe how about my W&LE 2-6-6-2, that sounds about right for the sound.

Comparing the detail of this engine with my Rivarrossi Y6b, I look at the RR and I feel like its out of focus, because the PCM detail is so crisp, even tho I painted/weathered the RR. I regeared and Sagami-motored it, and the PCM outperforms it.

I will be saying a slow goodbye to the Rivarrossi’s.

BTW the RR 2-6-6-6 is excellent.

added note, my BLI 2-6-6-4 has all the right sound, I bought it before the MTH fiasco with the QSI sound.

Now BLI/PCM has that engine in the Blueline series with no DCC, but with sound.

Dinwitty, that is one nice looking loco. Looks like a beast of one too. lol.

That’s a nice loke. Wish I had one…

They did one thing right, kadees, rear AND front, ready for that pusher service.

Had to tinker on the sound system again, learned it doesnt matter which way you plug the DCC plug in, it will work, but the loco will run reverse from normal and the headlight/backup lights interchange electrically.

Tried doubleheading with my BLI 2-6-6-4, but the A coupler is too low and the front Y6b too high…duh…I have the couplers to fix that. The Y6 decoder has a delay in starting while the A takes right off…
