This is a video of My Ho Scale SW9/1200 Diesel Locomotive, Former Union Pacific unit which I stripped down with Brake Fluid and then Painted it with Poly Scale colors. It has been sitting on a shelf for years because it wasn’t DCC. I recently purchased an Digitrax SoundFx decoder and installed it in this Locomotive. I changed the speaker to a larger one other then use the supplied one by Digitrax. I had to remove the front weight in the locomotive for clearence for the speaker. The only room for the decoder itself was right on top of the motor. I cut off the 8 pin socket on the decoder and hard wired the decoder in the locomotive. I still have more decaling to do and it will be lettered for the Great Western Railroad, A Colorado Sugar Beet Railroad…
Who makes that McKeen car there in the background?

Yeah, where did you get that McKeen car??? Modelling minds want to know! Was toying with the idea to scratchbuild McKeen #17.
That McKeen Motorcar is a Brass Ken Kidder 55 foot Ho Scale model that I bought a few years back at a Train Show in Willmington Massachusetts, I painted it for the Great Western Railroad because they had Two of them. Trying to figure out how to install a decoder in that one
DAM! its brass. Bummer! Well still, i know someone made a plastic version but for the life of me I cant figure who. I wanna say Ulrich or Lambert (maybe Kemtron??) but thats gotta be far fetched. More like a real discreet company (here yesterday, gone today). Seems like it was in the 70’s maybe? Possibly 60’s. Anyone?
Nicely done! I’ve wanted to hear a Digitrax Sound system, it sounds pretty good!
Hey thanks Dave!!! I knew there was one out there. You just saved me who knows how much time looking for that. I would have never thought of F&C for this model. [bow]
And thanks to the OP for inadvertantly including that in your picture. Being that this wasnt the focus of the post, does this qualify as a photobomb?
Great Western Rwy fan:
Nice job on the sound installation.
