I bought–ahem charged–the full four-car set. I am in the middle of laying down my track so when I get some I will put them out there and take some photos to post. They are beautiful cars. I was also pleased to find that their metal knuckle couplers were perfectly aligned. It seems they are doing several road numbers for the four types of cars–not sure how you order a different road number.
On a side note, I was in LA over the weekend and saw a Surfliner consist with a Superliner I–31046, an ex-Coach/Baggage. So for those of you wanting to be prototypical and have a standard five-car Surfliner set, if you can break the bank for the four car set (Coach/Baggage/Cab, Coach, Coach/Cafe, and Pacific Business Car), then you can stick a Walthers Superliner in there to make up the numbers.
No offense to Athearn but when I couple my Amtrak F59PHI to this consist it’s going to be the model railroad equivalent of Lady and the Tramp.
So for those of you SoCal modelers, I recommend OMI totally if you can get the money. Their president told me they are stocked for now but as you know, these things go quickly and then you’re stuck with consignment hunts.
