My weathered boxcar

well, i thought i would showcase my latest weathering job an Athearn RTR 50’ Railbox Boxcar, what do you guys think?, this particular Car only has a Light weathering, well relatively light… the pictures dont do it justice as the weathering stands out more in person, as it always does.

well heres a before shot

and an after shot

and a close up of the doors

also in my signature theres a link to my photobucket site where you will find more pictures

thanks OZJIM[:)]

Very nice! It looks like something that has been on the rails only a little while.

I don’t know if you’ve done this, it’s hard to tell in pics, but is there some road dirt along the bottom edges kicked up by the wheels? Roof drippings?

The light rust is fantastic, and the paint fading is great. The door is a real standout. Nice work!

You’ve done well. Nice work.

I like the detail of the rust on the door. Very realistic. I hope to get a few pics of my new weathering projects on the forum soon. [:)]

Nice job! You’ve practiced the “less-is-more” approach to good effect.[tup]

i suck at weathering whenever a client needs anything weathered my cousin does it.

A super dooper start. Very nicely weathered door.

thanks guys for the compliments, pcarrell: yeah there is dust kicked up but in the pictures it doesnt show up well, in person its more obvious.

thanks James

Photograph outside. All will be revealed there.

I take it your Railbox is only a few years old at max.

outside ay thanks for the tip, and it represents a a car a few years old, but its more profound than it looks in the photos

I like it. After ‘weathering’ four of my rolling stock, I’ve decided the Heck with it, let nature take its course, I prefer Technicolor, LOL! But you did a very nice job, IMO.

You know, I thought that might be the case. It’s obvious that you went to great legth’s to do a good job on the weathering. I didn’t think you’d miss something so basic. That’s why I asked if it just didn’t show up.

Your car looks great. As for mine, I have 1 almost completed, weathering wise. I need to get some more paint and airbrush paint thinner and get to work. I have a pretty well rounded railroad, but I NEED DETAIL. Good job.
