Okay, I have a difficult question. I was reading the June 2007 issue of Model railroader. On Pg. 74 is a picture of the Cat Mountain Santa Fe, and it’s new backdrops. Below the backdrop is a train with 3 santa Fe locomotives. However the first car is lettered for a railroad I don’t recognize. Can anyone tell me who it is lettered for. I immagine it is someone’s freelanced model railroad, and It looks kind of familiar. The Car is blue, and the lettering is arranged like it would be on a grand trunk western car, only the logo is different. Instead of a G, there is a U. Does anyone know which railroad it is off of? Is it freelanced?
Can you post a pic? We don’t all have that particular mag in front of us!![%-)]
I just looked at the photo you referenced; even with a magnifying glass, I could barely make out the U T (or could it be L I T) on the car. It appears to be a 4750 ribside covered hopper. I think the answer to this question will have to come from David Barrow.
Don Z.
I’d like to, but until I can figure out what UT stands for, I don’t know what to search for. I did how ever find this video. It tours the CMSF, and if you whatch carefully, you’ll see three cars from the layout I’m talking about. It’s probably not your idea of a pic though ;•) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu9Qt1oGaMY
Now we can click to get there [:D]
At 22 seconds into the video, there is a blue box car with a UT logo
At 1:46 seconds there is a blue covered hopper with a UT logo
AT 2:36 seconds, there is a brown box car with a UT logo
At 2:55 seconds, there is another blue box car with a UT logo
(look quick, the person who shot the video is panning fast)
Is that what you were asking about? There is or was someone who had a model RR called Utah Belt, maybe those cars based on that railroad??
