N gauge round house 1860's to 1900's era

I have looked on line at just about every company that makes buildings for N gauge trains and I have found only a modern round house from Walthers. Does anyone know if anyone makes the older Civil war to 1900 round house? If anyone looks in some of the Matthew Brady civil war photos you will find a picture of some round houses and I am trying to build a civil war N gauge layout but I need a round house. Right now I may have to get the Walthers modern round house and make shift it to look like the older type if it can be done that is.

Anonymous,

I built an HO scale model of the roundhouse in Atlanta, circa 1863. I have spent hours researching possible kits to bash but no luck. I decided to scratch build using a photo then scaling it to HO. Many hours later it is complete. This was about 8 years ago. Great education. Most structures are scratch since we are building a proto-type of the W&A. Now the layout is nearly complete, after almost 11 years. Depending on how “authentic” you prefer, scratching it will give you close to what you may want. Otherwise try bashing the Walthers kit. You may be able to educate some of period modelers, several doing N, on how to do so. You can visit us at yahoo groups, civil war railroads.
