which couplers do you N scalers find best . are all compatible with kadees?
Kadee left the N scale market decades ago when the company was split. Micro-Trains is the Kadee in N scale.
Micro Trains couplers are the best, and I do not know any N scalers personally that would use anything else.
There was an N scale coupler called the Unimate, it might still be available that had a T-shank to replace a Rapido style coupler. Back in the 1990s these were used on N-Trak layout because you could pull a 150 car train without coupler seperation with them. Micro-trains couplers could seperate if train length exceeded 80 cars.
Not something you need to worry about at home.

I agree with Kevin. I use nothing but Micro-Trains / Kadee couplers. I even convert cars that come equipped with a different knuckle coupler.
I have used their couplers for close to 50 years. I was converting Rapido couplers to Kadee before I was 10 years old!
They are still available. They are a “dummy” non operating coupler, useful in some situations, that can be coupled/uncoupled to Microtrains, Acumate and other opperating knuckle coupler brands by hand.
I agree with others. Best to stick with Microtrains. Acumates are Ok with Microtrains but I feel not quite as good…
