N-scale Kato F-40PH coupler replacements

What does one replace the Kato couplers on their N-scale F-40PH diesels? What should they replaced with? I want to replace them with Micro Trains style magnamatics sou please let me know which ones to buy. Thanks

MTL 2004 is the replacement coupler you want for the F-40PH.

Micro Trains has a large comversion on their website that comes in handy for N scale coupler changes.

I looked at their website and saw nothing specifically for the KATO F-40PH. I know about their conversion kits for other N-Scale as I’ve used them before on Trix, Model Power, Bachman and Atlas locomotives. For freight and passenger cars I just change the entire truck and attached coupler with Micro Train items.

Thanks. I’ve looked just about everywhere and didn’t see anything listed for this particular locomotive.

My wife and sons bought me a pair of KATO F-40PHs in AMTRAK markings for Father’s Day. THey don’t know it yet but I will be very happy and thank them profusely when the locomotives arrive and I get to change the couplers to something more reliable. [:-^]
