n scale norfolk & western a

was thare ever a n scale 2-6-6-4

N scale I don’t think so, HO brass yes, obviously a Y6b in N, I just about jumped outa my shoes and socks and everything else when BLI came out with the A, and I now own that engine (actually bought a few years ago) BLI/PCM now have N so maybe…keep yer hopes up…

great sound from the BLI A, and is my first DCC engine (but I couldnt run it DCC as I didnt have DCC yet, oh it ran DC…heh)

None, according to the N-scale encyclopedia. It’s a great reference for these types of questions.

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

I would be most happy to repeat that in case you missed the point!

There may be a 2-6-6-4 hanging around somewhere out there in the vapor; in the meantime if you want one you could probably modify one of Uncle Irv’s Challengers–the drivers are a mite short but only a little bit–for the power mechanism and as far as a boiler goes this is the time for you to research fifty years worth of steam locomotive scratchbuilding articles from the hobby press.

Sure would be nice to have a few class A’s running on the layout with the J’s and Y’s! I’m still dreaming.

It’s not like its hard to find a real one; just go to the Virginia Tech Museum of Transportation. The 1218 is a pretty fine example of what we’re looking for. Any good manufacturer would get my support with orders for a half dozen or so.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for BLI/PCM. They’re better at producing glossy ads announcing non-existant products than they are at producing N scale models. Ask the people who’s hopes for a PRR M1 were dashed…
