I have just bought some of the great-looking Intermountain/ Centralia car shops/Des Plaines Pennsy passenger cars. Well- almost great looking- there are what appears to be sink marks around the windows!
As for running/ tracking quality- I had replace the washers on each truck with kadee fibre washers before they would swivel and consequently stay on the track- and I mean pretty straight track. I then noticed the sideframes on the trucks/bogies swivel up and down, so the axles weren’t necessarily level.
It’s all fixed now and (except for the mould depressions) and they look quite effective, but they’ don’t quite live up to their claims of being “n scale’s finest passenger equipment” in my opinion, especially at the price!
What experiences have other modellers had? Are there better options for building up protypical (or close to) Pennsy passenger stock?
