How can I build an N scale protection rack similar to what Mr. Pelle Soeborg built on his HO layout featured in Model Railroader magazine? Evergreen products and Plastructs products seem to massive/big looking to be used in an N scale elevator building project. Any ideas?
Perhaps these N scale shady characters can help you set it up:

Oh wait… that’s a protection racket
In plastic, N scale guardrails and safety cages around ladders must be much thicker than scale appearance just because of the realities of casting plastic. Some folks have used brass wire and sheet stock to fabricate similar features to get closer to scale appearance. K&S Models offers brass stock that might be useful.
I’m not sure if they have the exact parts you are looking for, but brass photoetched parts of various types are available from firms like Gold Medal Models, Plano Model Products, and Peedie Models, among others.
TrainCat was another commercial provider of some of these types of parts in brass, but the company is currently on hiatus due to a death in the family.
Good luck with your project.

Edit: By the way, the elevator is seen in the May 2017 issue of Model Railroader.
Thank you for your response. I will check out your suggestions. I was thinking that I might have to go to brass photoetched parts. Not worked much with those products, will be a new learning experience.
Nice sense of humor you’ve got there speedybee.
Well, I finally build one. I would show you a picture, but I can’t figure out how to include one in this reply.
