N Scale Track Nails

Any suggestions for track nails? I have used the Atlas N Scale track nails but they are HUGE. I have a dremel 1/32" drill bit that drills a perfect hole in my Code 55 track ties, but the Atlas track nails are too big. I looked online and the Peco N scale track nails “appear” to be smaller. Any advice on Peco track nails or other nail alternatives?

Please note I use adhesive caulk to secure most of my track to the cork roadbed, but there are some complex areas I would prefer to nail in case I have to reallign my track layout after running trains for awhile.

Thank you.

Dont use them. Caulk or glue for the win!

Nothing worse than someone’s lunchbox on every 5th tie.

I use DAP Alex Plus acrylic latex sealant to install track. Track can be removed easily later with only a putty knife slid under the ties. If you like using adhesive caulk elsewhere, maybe switch to something like the sealant in areas where you’re considering track nails.

I have Peco Code 55 track and I have used the Micro Engineering small spikes. I don’t use them down the middle of the track. Instead, I got this technique from one of Kalmbach’s books on laying track. I shave off the molded spike detail on every 12th tie or so and drill a small hole in it’s place (I can’t remember the size, though). Then I take the ME small spike and drive it in. It is barely noticeable. ME does have a smaller spike, they’re called micro spikes, but I found that they weren’t long enough to hold the track in place very well. I’ve pulled up and relayed my track so many times that I am glad I didn’t use the caulk. Maybe if I were sure that once the track was down, it was staying there, I might be tempted to use the caulk instead.
