are there any websites devoted to N-scale with discussion boards? Thanks to all.
There’s an N scale group on Yahoo that’s pretty active, but my favorites are the Atlas N Scale Forum, The Railwire, and Scale Rails On Line. There’s a lot of product discussion at Atlas, modeling techniques from really good modelers at The Railwire, plus a good sense of humor, and SRO offers a lot of information directed at beginners in all scales, as well as a broad swath of topics for N scalers of all levels.
This forum is pretty good for general information, but sometimes it seems like N scale never gets to ride in first class…
Lee
Model Railroad Forums has a good N scale section.
Here’s another good’n.
I’ll second http://www.therailwire.net. It’s tight-knit with great sense of humor, and features some really great modeling. For whatever reason, the Railwire seems to be a place where users can give and accept criticism of modeling as a means to improve without the extreme sense of personal offense that bearly always accompanies critique here. My favorite forum is the Railwire. Although all scales are represented, N scale seems to dominate.
Of course, there is the N scale forum at www.atlasrr.com The Atlas site is “segregated” into N scale, HO and O, the 3 scales in which they manufacture equipment. I used to post regularly to Sunday night foto fun-- don’t do as much lately due to a job with heavy time demand. But I kept records of what pictures I posted. I see I have been going to the site regularly since February 2004.
It has a lot of N scale specific content, quite a bit more I believe than the N scale sub-site on www.trainboard.com
I’m a member of both of those.
nscale.org IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST FORUM AND ENVIRONMENT ON THE NET!!!Friendly people, who know how to give critique nicely but firmly. Contests, prizes, and a troll is an extreme rarity.
I’m packers#1 there as well.
I really didn’t like nscale.net, i don’t post there anymore.
The best forum out there is Trainboard. Opinions, remarks, critiques are offered in a constructive fashion, by members who know how to express themselves tactfully. (yes that is the secret) and actually have a layout to back up their opinions.
The Z scale modeling on Trainboard is unbelievable.
i third or fourth Nscale.org.
im a reader not a poster and can always find what im looking for.
