N&W heritage ES44AC #8103 has been painted at NS’s Juniata shop and is ready. #8013 wears N&W’s 1960s blue paint with the “hamburger” logo. This scheme was adopted by N&W when they acquired Wabash in 1964, and was in use until 1972 when they switched to solid black with the large “NW” initials.

Take that engine (you can even paint it black). Instead of “Norfolk & Western”, put NORFOLK SOUTHERN on the hood.
Put the galloping horse logo under the windows. Keep the number on the side of the nose where it is.
That’d be neat.
Blue says Wabash - Black says N&W
No argument with that statement but I can remember quite a few blue N&W locomotives in the late 1960’s-early 1970’s, including 500-series GP9’s on the “Blue Bird”.
I was going to say, that does not SCREAM NW to me, but then I’m a youngin relatively speaking. So, what do I know.
Throw some soot and dirt on it!
You might have something there, MC–that blue looks 'way too bright for my memory of N&W units in the late 1960s. They seemed (perhaps not surprisingly, in view of the merger that didn’t take place) very close to C&O/B&O blue, but with gold lettering instead of yellow.
I think we’ve already seen the pick of the litter. Southern green/white/gold is hard to beat.
ABSOLUTELY!

Sorry to disagree but so far I personally think hte COG unit is the best looking.
