Does anyone remember the name of a model raiload movie that was part comedy? It used to be shown at our local trainshow (Great Midwest Train Show) back in the 1980’s on a reel-to-reel projector.
It was narrarated by an older fellow - like a conductor? It showed some really goofy scene with a model railroad built in a kitchen, going through a loaf of bread, etc… It ended up with a gigantic model railroad run by a computer that takes over the system and some guy needs to crawl underneath to save the day?
Can any of you remember this? Or am I losing my mind?
I think it was called Model Railroading Unlimited. IIRC, Kalmbach produced the movie, and made it available for free (except for shipping costs) to MRR clubs for use at train shows, etc . . . Looking through my back issues a few weeks ago, I saw some mention of the movie - that it was no longer available, but one should refer to the Worlds Greatest Hobby website for alternate hobby-promotion materials.
I remember seeing it once at one of the first swap meets I attended in '79 or maybe '80, and never again after that. I remember it being funny, but I would seriously question its value for hobby promotion if it were shown today.
But, now that you’ve brought the topic up, I realize I would really like to see it again one day just for fun.
