I just got 6 custom athearn ac4400 engines with genesis motors and ditch lights, and extra details. Now all is good except, I think the decoder got rattled a bit in the post. I tried resetting it by putting cv 8 into 8 on my Zephyr, but nothing happened. How do I reset it??[?] ( D13SRJ ) Is there a different way to reset NCE decoders??

I had a Digitrax that took me 4 or 5 resets but it finally came around. I have heard of others having to do it many times before any results.
really?? huh… ok, I will try and reset it a couple of times. I will let you know what happend. Mabey OPS mode will help because of the higher voltage???

Do you still have the info/data sheet that came with your NCE decoder? That should contain some useful info for you.

I got the decoder with the engine. No manuals or anything. It was a ebay win. Everything looks fine, except the decoders need reset. I did look at NCE’s web site, but found nothing on reseting the decoder.

You could do one of two things then. Either open up the locomotive shell and see if you can get any info off the decoder itself, or contact the seller to see if they can tell you what decoder they put in the locomotive, if they installed it. If you have that information, NCE might be willing to send you a data sheet for that specific decoder. Even if it’s a nominal charge, it would still be worth having for your records and reference.

As I stated in my first post it is a NCE D13SRJ. I talked to him ( seller ) and he said he will scan and e-mail me the manual pages. I was just wondering how to reset the decoder. number 8 into cv8 does not work.

Nataraj, if you go to pg. 8, it looks like it’s CV 30. NCE suggests setting it to 2 on the programming track and the decoder will reset to factory settings.
