NE Ohio Train Show: March 19th & 20th - UPDATE

Like clockwork, the NMRA Division 5 train show - Railfest - will be Saturday & Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM, March 19th & 20th @ Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, OH. Along with the Division 4 Berea train show the first week in October, I find this show very enjoyable to go to.

I’ll be meeting up with Ed (gmpullman) during and after the show on Saturday. Would enjoy touching base with anyone else planning on coming that day. I’m sure Frank (0-6-0) and I will bump into one another - as we always do.

I’ll be the tall dude in red fleece donning a black NYC hat - if anyone wants to say hi.

Tom

Hello Tom Will be there around opening time Saturday, enjoyed meeting you and Frank, Dan and Brakie at Berea. Be there with two other N scalers Greg and Larry. Steve

I enjoy both Div 5 and Div 4 shows. Unfortunately saturdays are not good for me but I will be at Lakeland on Sunday. Living in Medina makes the trip to Lakeland a bit of a hike. I am looking forward to it.

Hey Tom thanks for the heads up on the show . But I will not be going this year [|(] . I have way to much going on this month and have no time. We will have to try again in the fall at Berea. You guys have fun and hopefully you find all the good deals. Have a nice day Frank

3 days to go…

Got my short list together for the show this weekend:

  • 7’ RJ-12 cable for Power Cab - The connector tab broke off on one end so that it no longer “clicks” into the connector port of the PCP panel
  • Decals (for undecordated NYC H10-44 and HH660 shells)
  • Tichy Water columns (2)

And I’m sure I’ll have a “sledgehammer over the head” moment on Saturday when I see something obvious that I should have remembered to put on the list. LOL!

T-minus 2 days and counting…bump…

I’ll be there Saturday. I love spending hours browsing through all the stuff. If you’ve never been there, it’s a very nice show.

This year I’m actually looking for some turnout and track for the first time in a long time (making some changes to the current track configuration). I’ve also got some other things on my hit list (decoders), and may pick up an engine or two (can never have too many, right?).

Have a great show!

Todd

T-minus one day and counting…

Today’s the day! For those going to the train show: Have a safe trip and hope to see you there! Tom

Although there were a number of people at the show on Saturday, pickins were mighty slim. Found nothing at all on my wish list so that was disappointing. Seemed there were fewer vendors this time around. At least there weren’t any “non-RR” booths for a change. Everything that I saw being sold was RR-related.

The day was not a total loss though. I did pick up a 3-pack of Accurail Big 4 (CCC&StL) 55-ton hoppers. Not that I really needed any more hoppers. [%-)] I was just happy to find something with the Big 4 moniker on it. [:D]

I was surprised how few decals there were for sale. Only one vendor had them and he had maybe 6 packs - at best?

The highlight of the day was meeting Ed (gmpullman) and his friends, Mark and Bob. Ed treated me (and a couple of my MRRing buddies) out to lunch after the show then we all headed over to Ed’s house to see his basement empire. We had a VERY enjoyable time just running trains around the layout and gabbing. (Many thanks again, Ed. [:D])

I hope that the Berea show in October won’t be as disappointing. They will, at least, have Funaro & Carmerlengo and Tichy there. I always enjoy stopping by their booths.

Tom

I agree with your assessment. I thought for HO, there were very few dealers with slim pickings. I did pick up three used P2K PRR engines for $60, but nothing from my wish list really. If you were an N or O Scaler, it looked like there was a lot more variety.

I think the club really needs to work at attracting some more HO vendors. The number of them was way down this year, and there were a number of the large dealers that have disappeared in the last three years or so.

Hello well it sounds like I didn’t miss much at the show. Besides it sounds like all the fun was Ed’s house anyway. It seems like the show has been slowing down since the flood in the gym. Are there any more shows cumming up? Have a nice day Frank

Frank,

The Berea show in October is the only one that I know of, for sure.
