Need a Norfolk Southern Switcher

Microscale makes a NS diesel decal sheet. It is 87-435.There are NS decorated switchers out there but the online hobbyshops I checked were out of stock. As stated above it is not uncommon to see a GP38, GP40 or GP35 used in switching service. You should be able to find one of these in NS paint.

I’ve heard it two ways.

  1. NS owns the switching equipment.
  2. When NS and CSX split Conrail, a portion of Conrail remained that contracted switching duties.

yes and no Space they are there own company but as far as I can tell they operate in new jersey detroit and philly. this is from the web site
. “The the approved merger plan restructured Conrail into a switching and terminal railroad that operates as an agent for its owners, Norfolk Southern and CSX, in the Shared Assets Areas of Northern New Jersey, Southern New Jersey/Philadelphia, and Detroit.”

That leads me to believe all others are either aquired units in the sale or they are using them.

mines for sell if you want it bad enough e-mail me waltersrails@yahoo.com
its in great condtion only ran it a few times.

Around Suffolk, VA NS uses SD40-2’s for switching! Athearns sw-1500 comes painted for NS but you will need to install a decoder for DCC. NS is rebuilding a lot of GP38’s and GP38-2’s to handle locals and switching, so you could get an Atlas Master GP-38 with DCC already installed.

the ns in cincinnati, uses regular route trains for switching…

my sell still stands

wow thanks for all the great inf guy
