I tried to remove the shell of my recently bought P2K Limited Edition SD45 and followed the instructions that say: “Remove the coupler box assemblies from both ends of the locomotive. Remove the fuel tank cover. Unscrew the two black screws shown in the exploded view of the chassis. Grasping the shell by the solid area between the grills, l;ift shell straight up and off the chassis”
Well it doesn’t work for me, it feels like the shell is welded to the chassis and were it an Athearn BB locomotive I probably would have used brute force and no harm done but the P2K locomotive has too many fragile details to resort to force.
Has anyone encountered the same problem with P2K locomotives and is there a trick to remove the shell without force.
Thanks for any help.
Most shells I’ve dealt with have tabs and they are the darnest thing as they are well hidden and wreak havoc. Try gently squezing the shell and giving it a wiggle.
