I just got my layout and ran , and my plan is to run a Passenger car right above the bottom track for 13 feet counting two turns and this track will allways stay up above the other track like an oval but will be on top of a mountain flatform half of the way and on the other half i need to figure out a way to keep that passenger car up above the bottom track…does anyone have any ideals how i can Make something to do so…I would prefer to make it myself than getting tressle set to do it…so if anybody has any ideals please help and better yet if you have a patternof something that i can use that i can precut out of wood for it please send it to me…OH the other question is how many would i need to make for 13 feet of track to keep it even at all times…Thanks Rick
you want to build cleats and risers…I hope you built L girder because this is going to be hard if you didn’t…get some 1/2"x 3/4" (1" x 4" work well also) wood, cut three pieces so they are tall enough to suspend the train at the level you want and a piece crossways across the top of the other pieces and glue and screw them into either 2 pieces in a “T” or an upside down “L” shape or the three pieces in an upside down “U” shape…now glue and screw them to the L girder joist or if you have plywood in the way you will have to cut some wood blocks and re-enforce the legs of the riser to the plywood…glue and screws!..glue and screws!..glue and screws! …if you put the sub roadbed in built of plywood you’ll only need 2,there should be 12" space between them if you use 3/4 plywood
A couple of questions first:
- Do you want to see both tracks?
- Is it directly above the lower track as you indictae or set back and parallel to it?
If the answer is #1 you are going to have to do something like an elevated track structure or else it is going to be real ugly. That is a long distance to have one track above another. You might want to reconsider your plan.
