Need info on "Jouef" trainset

A few years ago I picked up a unusual trainset at a train show.I believe it is HO3 .It is HO but runs on N scale track. It is French,I know that. The train looks like a zoo or park train with a small steam engine and two open sided passenger cars. Some of the writing on the box is Jouef

“un Amour de petit train!”
It is complete except no transformer, but in near mint condition.I have run it several times around a small Christmas tree I have.Im going to use it in a park or zoo on my layout. Can anyone give me any info on this set??Id like to get more cars for it.

It’s actually HOn30, not HOn3. The nice thing is it was made to run on N scale track, so a layout would be easy. It probably came with a (European) 220v. transformer, but any decent HO one will work.
It’s not real common, but it does show up on Ebay, you can search “Joeuf” or even “HOn30” or “HOn21/2” and get some results. Some of the locos car a bit high priced, but the cars are more reasonable.

Hi Tim
Check out the HOn30 Depot and Micro Layout Design Gallery.

I’m building a HOn30 mico layout as part of a larger HO scale layout.
The thing I don’t like about N gage track is that the ties are N scale and look out of place for HO scale. Pico makes HOn2 1/2 track (a.k.a. HOn30).
About the only other alternative is hand lay track. B-K Enterprises makes turnout kits and parts.
It take a long, long time to get the kits. I know 'cuz I going the hand laid route.

Good luck!

Also worth looking up “Egger Bahn” on ebay - they made the models originally then Jouef bought the moulds (I think). Prices can be a tad high. You might want to take a look at the Liliput HOe range too.
