Need some help please looking for a small amount of "z" track

Hello, I’m more adept with building models cars, but I also love Trains. I come from a train family, my Grandfather,2 uncles 1 aunt and my father all worked for CN. I am currently working on a diorama for my uncle who has always been very good to me & my family.

I found a small gauge train (hallmark polar express I think…) and I believe it is “Z” gauge. I am using a shadow box to make a gorge/river scene. I have scratch built a 5 tier trestle bridge over a small outlet from a lake i will paint on canvas for the background. I need help in finding track.

My local hobby shops don’t carry such a small scale, and I feel the “N” gauge is too large. Does anyone know where I can purchase or trade for very small quanties of “Z” track? I need less than 2 feet. I’d go with ebay, but I have to purchase 10 pc pkgs.

The other thing would be to scratch build, but i’m not sure where to start.

Thanks for any suggestions.

[#welcome] You have hit on the one forum that can help. If these guys can’t help, it can’t be done.

Have you tried the hobbyshop on Henderson Hy in Elmwood? They aren’t too friendly but they have a lot of odd stuff.

How about a few mail order places?

I realize that shipping charges will kill you but if no other avenue presents itself, you can use this for a backup plan. I wonder if any vendors would negotiate shipping for small orders???

Good luck and welcome to the fora.

71 Plymouth, first welcome to the site. Being a fellow MOPAR person I be happy to help. I will check with my hobby shop today and see what a 2 foot section will run. If you want it I will pack for free and ship at cost.

Cuda Ken

You a good guy Ken [tup][swg]

I called Fred at Warehouse hobby shop on Rouge road and he said that they can order a short length for you if you’re not in too big a hurry.

i’ll give him a call and see what the score is… thanks

Plymouth 71, hum, could it be a 71 Road Runner? Best looking Runner made and I will add I have a 68 Runner. PM me if you need my help or call me at 618-345-5864 if you have free LD. If you want to talk PM me your number, I do have free LD.

My health is a little under the weather for now, fell like a Bow Tie (yuck Chevy) engine with a spun main. I have not been coming to the site as often as I normaly do, so a phone call would help.

O c’mon Ken, I just rolled 200k on my Chevy Truck. I would rather have that than those famously weak Mopar starters, ball joints and timing chains. You must have meant “Blue Oval” instead huh? [:D] [swg]

Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome to the forum,

rails forever.

I called and left a message this morning at warehouse hobbies., but I have not heard back yet…

I am not in a big rush, It is for my uncle who is retiring in a couple of years. but here is another progress pic

Ken i’ve been pretty busy lately… but i’ll get in touch soon as i hear from the local guy… thank you guys

Ken, Have you heard from your hobby shop yet? He local one could not get that small of an amount of track, they would have to sell me a complete box.

They’re BOTH good guys… They’re MOPAR people!![:D]

I used to think he was a good guy too!!![:-^] I’ve got 130,000 on my '99 Venture & had 180,000 on the step-van (p30 chassis/350V8) when I traded it in on the mini-van!!![wow]

71 Plymouth, to be honest I thought you had found the track. I will try to remember to ask Thursday, if I do not answer this posting.

Hum, 71 Billboard Cuda.

Here’s mine.

Cuda Ken

Thankyou, I appreciate your help. Unfortunately I don’t own that car, It’s the one I want to build/or buy. I am currently upgrading my wagemaking abilities (training to become a commercial pilot) in order to afford one. I have owned a couple Dodge Darts, and almost a 70 318 Barracuda (passed on it) but build scale models to satisfy my needfor moparmuscle. oh yeah My best friend from highschool has a 69 440 + 4bbl GTX we terrorized our neighbor hood back in the early 90’s. If you hear of any reasonably priced cudas, please let me know…

here’s some of my work (models)

This is a replica of a 69 Hemi Charger that was here in Canada, Owner sent it south a few years back for big $$$

This is my 340 Cuda Convertible Restoration project.

For track you can try walther’s.

Z Scale track

In 1968 I was a junior in HS. My best friiend’s brother had a 1968 Charger, 383 4bl. Talk about terroizing the neighborhood!!!

don’t build em like that anymore.

No they don’t, they make them better [swg]

2008 Challenger 6.1 Liter Hemi 425 HP, 420 ft lbs torque. 0-60 6.3 seconds, 15 MPG

I had a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 with a 383 4 Barrel, I spent alot of money on starters, motor mounts, ball joints and a timing chain. But yes, it was scary strong.
