I have seen a simple device that will assist me in this process. Appears to be some sort of ramp. Anyone know the name and manufacture?

Get the Kato rerailer. Its a little bit more but a lot better than the rix one.
I have the Rix, it works great. Simple device, but it does the job. You could probably make one with some styrene pieces, but it would probably cost more.

Atlas makes one that looks a bit like a road crossing. Part number 150-155. List is $1.60. Not especially pretty, but they do work quite well. I’ve got several on my hidden staging.
