Neil Young's layout in the New York Times

Neil Young’s Lionel layout was featured in a recent issue of the New York Times
magazine, and on a blog on the paper’s website. I have posted photos and the
relevent parts (to us model railroaders) from the longer interviews about his
life and music on my blog at
http://cprailmmsub.blogspot.ca/2012/09/neil-young-and-model-railroading-i-am.html

Quotable quote from the article: “Back in the day, he [Young] and his pals used to snort coke and drink wine and tinker with the model layout until it grew into 3,000 square feet of track and trains.”

I wonder what the scenery and trackwork looked like after those work sessions . . . .

I like Neil!~

I wish I had his permission to use this song (or studio version) in an intense layout tour video…

He is all about us folk!

PS: I had to Copy & Paste the ‘OP’s Neil’ link to make it work ‘on my system’ just FYI…

PSS: The Article was somewhat empty for us MRR’s…

Hopefully my link is someting new to you, Who knows…

Either way, enjoy, -now, or someday…

Well, at least we now have a good answer for those building seasonal layouts around Christmas trees when they ask, “What should I use for snow?”. [swg]

Yes, it was an excellent interview and side piece by the author on his visit to Neil’s ranch. Me, model railroading and Neil Young all converged about the same time in 1970. Life hasn’t been the same since, but Neil has provided a great sound track to it.

You’ll notice that a guy who can have any caboose in the world in his back yard has a Rio Grande caboose. [:P] There is a suspicion that it’s 01485, but it’s not confirmed yet.

Neil was instrumental in helping save Lionel. Lost a fortune on it, but if he hadn’t stepped in when he did and poured his money down that rathole, Lionel as people know it today would likely be in a very different place.

OK, so dig this;

Down By The River, Neil, ya, good song… Spin it…

So if we replace lyrics, (yes, Neil does not like this, but, he may make an exception here).

Replace: Shot her dead… ooooo,ooo, a, oooo,aooooo
With: Got a FRED… ooooo,ooo, a, oooo,aooooo

Oh yeah, that is like 2½am working, like so 2am good!
And now, I just can -not stop singing it like that, Really!!!
FRED…, ooo, a, oooo,aooooo, I got a FRED…, ooooo,ooo, a, oooo,aooooo…

Like in the song ‘No More’ the lyric “Twistin the Words in a Different Way!”

ooo, a, oooo,aooooo, I got a FRED…, ooooo,ooo, a, oooo,aooooo…

ooo, a, oooo,aooooo, … got a FRED…, ooooo,oooo,aooooo…

I get one photo and a " Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist" notice.

Is that what is supposed to be there at your link?

~some stars do have and are allowed to have MRR’s!!!
