Nelson Rail Station To Get Makeover

Finally, after about 10 to 15 years of just sitting around gathering dust, pigeion droppings and looking rather grundgy, the Canadian Pacific station in Nelson, B.C. will be transferred to the Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce.

It will take a few more weeks to get Canadian Pacific to send a final document stating their point of view and to dot the last I’s and cross the last T’s. Part of it is to settle the costs of the commercial appraisal of the building and land surveys. The deal is worth around $4 million.

Part of the deal is the development of a small town square and some landscape area in front of the building. Also another 40 acres, owned by Canadian Pacific, is up for potential future use.

Myself I’d like to see a small to medium sized rail museum being built for public enjoyment.

Good! The descrription is accute, it is indeed a bit run-down. I wonder what role the shops will play in this…40 acres of land they say, I have to wonder what they’re going to do!

Heck, it’s hard to even get a good photo of it!

Yep, that’s her. The Nelson Rail Station in all it ugliness. I can’t understand how this building could be left standing for long without any kind of restoration.
