In this months NMRA Mag there are two advertisements that I thought might be of interest to modelers here. The first is for a product from Micro Mark- it is "realistic Rivet Heads and other details, offered in HO and O scales. Micro-Marks web site is www.MicroMark.com if interested. The other item I may be interested in and I wanted to get some feed back on this item. It is a new product called “Never Stall” being offered by Daylight sales. The web site is www.daylightsales.com . Has any one had any expierence with “Never Stall”. Looking for you feed back
Archer surface details makes the rivets in decal form and also dry transfer. They also started doing weld beads that you apply just like decals. The rivets and welds are resin that is deposited on decal paper. You can order them direct from Archer. http://www.archertransfers.com/SurfaceDetailsMain.html They work great. Best way to add rivets to a scratch or kit bash project.
I think the ‘never stall’ is a product like No Ox, which is a paste like coating that you rub on the railhead and then wipe dry and it prevents oxidation and is also electrically conductive. I have used No-Ox and it works great.
As far as I could tell, Micromart has “nut/bolt/washer” sets in different sizes, NOT rivets. Archer Fine Transfers is the place to get resin rivets, louvers and treadplate. They are excellent and to scale and as easy to apply as any decal. They are 3-dimensional not flat.
We have two bottles of No-Ox at our club that someone apparently bought nearly 30 years ago, that is a liquid, not a paste, so No-Ox seems to have been reformulated over the years. The liquid version has an extremely strong petroleum smell to it, worse than acetone, MEK, or lacquer thinner.
We really haven’t noticed any improvement in running qualities or any reduced need for track cleaning after using No-Ox.
I had never heard of ‘Never Stall’ until the OP’s post, and if Daylight Sales is the only place you can get it, it may never become a well known product.
It’ll be very interesting to follow this topic and hear from people who have actually purchased and used Never Stall.
