Never too old to stop learning. All you guys / gals are GREAT

Thanks to everyone one this forum for all the great info. I got my first train set, Lionel at age 4 in the early 50’s, kept it and added on until in my teens when I switched to HO. Kept that until I got married.

Left the hobby for ten years, but got back into it in 1980, again in HO. Built a DCC system by CVP from articles in Model Railroader. But bought a Digitrax Big Boy set in the mid 90’s (still using it). Built a 14 X 16 foot train room in my garage in the late 90’s. Moved out of that house in 2005, Started building a new layout in 2008.

So you see I have a bit of model railroading knowledge. BUT I have learned all sorts of things from this forum. Newer, different, and better ways to do things.

So this is a thank you to you all and I hope all the great ideas and suggestions keep coming.

Thanks,

Paul

You’re welcome!

When I got back into the hobby in 2006 {almost EXACTLY to the day 6 years ago!} I learned a lot here.

My knowledge was onl Lionel/Marx O-O/27 and Nscale DC. I joined here and I had always wanted HO, so I got into HO.

I quickly learned on here I wanted this “new fangled thing” called DCC! SO I dumped all my DC Ho scale stuff {hastily purchased} and bought the Bachmann EZ Command DCC system. It does FINE for my small layouts, and I also enjoy my Bachamnn locos.

Glad you enjoy the forum. Stop over to “Elliot’s Trackside Diner” where we call hash about anything on our minds that isn’t a flamewar topic like religion or politics!!!

Enjoy the Hobby your way!!!

Hi!

I’ve been playing with trains since the mid '50s, having built two Lionel layouts, a number of HO, and even an N scale layout. Not being a “club person” or having friends that were MRs, I pretty much did everything on my own.

In 2003 I found this Forum, and it kick started my waning interest in the hobby. In 2008 I tore down my last HO layout, and built a new one, converting to DCC at the time. Frankly, without the good folks on this Forum (you know who you are), that very likely would not have happened.

Have to say again, DCC and this Forum have renewed my passion for the hobby.

Let me simply echo mobilman’s sentiments.
