New Atlanta Station?

I thought someone posted earlier in these forums a new Atlanta station would never happen, I keep reading and hearing about movement on this subject though. To me, it looks like they are spending more money and doing more planning than Madison, WI ever will:

Seems about right, just like the speed rail in Kallyfornia. Don’t hold your breath.

Without the addition of more services besides the Crescent, it seems unlikely.

Well let me put it this way…

Without a written plan and expending at least a decent effort they would have an almost nil chance of anything because both FRA and Amtrak look at effort expended or local support before they consider funding or even spending time on the issue.

We already know the Dallas/Fort Worth service by way of Shreveport is supposed to go to Atlanta…

True that is only a plan and probably still way in the future. The Borealis took 15 years. They are still working on the Dallas-Meridian or Atlanta service though as of this morning.

A lot would depend on (multi) State-Supported routes, such as, but not limited to routes to Augusta, Chattanooga/Nashville or Charleston. Of course restoring Midwest to Florida (seasonal) service could be a winner.

Wow! Another study! Who’d a thunk it! Consultants need their backs scratched…

Forgetting the Atlanta Station problem… a slam dunk would be a suburban stop in Gwinnett County. Most of metro Atlanta lives north of the perimeter (I-285). A million of them live in Gwinnett County.

Just do it.
