New DCC system acquired : ZIMO

I mentioned before my heart was beating for ZIMO and Digitrax in a smaller extent.

Finally after a lot of research, data and advice on numerous forums, I have ordered a ZIMO DCC system for my layout in replacement of my old Lenz DCC system.

I know ZIMO is not often used in USA, and not well know, but for sure this system need to be studied because he is at the edge of the technology.

I model in N scale and ZIMO is often mentioned to be the most sensitive system for N scale.

The MX 10 station is full of technology on a high level and is ready for computer programming or even JMRI.

The MX 32 FU handled command exist as a wired one or radio controlled one .

The whole system is also WIFI ready and don’t need any adapter to connect him or to use WIFI accessories like a IPhone.

This very little handled control is full of features and numerous innovations, you can publish on the digital screen a picture of the locomotive you use.

ZIMO also offer numerous DCC decoders and like all DCC systems a whole family of accessories.

I have ordered three MX 32 UF controller with the station; all the Lenz accessories I have are full compatible like the CVP Power Shields and 5000 hand control I already have.

Zimo makes some of the smallest N scale decoders you can get, so for those locos that don;t have boards or even room for a board of any sort… Friend of mine scratchbuilds small N scale steams, including slope back tenders for switchers - and the loco itself os too small to fit a motor AND enough weight for traction so they are tender motor, with a drive shaft to the loco, anything not gears on the drive axle is weight. And in that tiny slope back tender is a small N scale motor AND a decoder - usually Zimo because nothing else will fit.

I do have to chuckle at a full graphical display screen throttle so they can display - an analog speedometer!

“Way to complicated”, in fact no more than any other handled throttle.

Description are often complicated, seems out of reach for many reasons and we must agree for the most not well explained

The MX 32 UF is a very complete handled thing, because I model in N scale, the fact I can publish a picture of the locomotives on the screen is a good thing, the possibility to view a speedometer is a nice feature, the thing is full WIFI connected.

I have used it on a friend layout, it’s small and extremely versatile and easy to use in the first try; in fact the user way is very logic and intuitive and don’t give gray hairs; the speed control is extremely sensitive

It’s may be complicated to your eyes, but ZIMO is at the edge of DCC technology and is a step foward besides the other DCC system, it announce already the future of DCC and the generation of power station; many features of this handled throttle and the power station are able to do are on the edge of the DCC technology.

The ZIMO system has numerous features included in the system like WIFI but also interconnection with a computer or JMRI without any need of adapter; you can also dispatch all the features of the station on a PC screen without the need of a computer and enter features with the handled throttle; the station include USB connection, but you can dialog with her by WIFI

Many features included in the station don’t need a adapter or a connecting device; they are all integrated in the system, see the data on their web site.

This ZIMO station is more a DCC computer station by itself and has a complete open dialog access for programming or make changes in any time.

Yes a bit expensive, but for sure the other DCC manufacturers are following them, ESU is already on the way just by example.
