For some of you, you already have this figured out so you can ignore this. For those of you who haven’t, here’s a solution for creating a “working” link in your post for web sites and pictures. The old forum did this automatically when you pasted a URL into your post or reply. The new forum, however, doesn’t…and you must create the link “manually” yourself. (Not a big deal; just a minor nuisance.)
Here are the instructions for creating a working link:
Paste the URL or link address into your post.
Highlight the link with you mouse.
Right click the highlighted text and click “Copy” (or press Ctrl+C) to copy it.
Click on the “world and link” icon in the tool bar above your original post (2nd icon from the far right) and paste the text you just copied into the text box - either by right clicking your mouse and clicking “Paste” or by pressing Ctrl+V.
Press OK.
Only when you do the above steps will your link become a “working” link and exhibit that familiar blue underlined text that you are accustom to seeing.
Hope that’s a help…[:)]

P.S. Just an idea. Maybe we can make this a regular part of the forum for things not covered under FAQ. Or, perhaps tips and tricks that members have discovered as they have gotten more familiar with the new forum.
Thanbks, Tom. I have been struggling with that. Any idea on how to overwrite text on the URL so that one can dispaly a caption or title rather than the URL?
Type your text, highlight it, click the Create Link button, and enter the URL. it displays your text in blue with the underline, clicking it willt ake you to the page you types in.
You can also directly paste a link by using the [ url ] and [ /url ] tags. Anything between the tags is considered part of the the URL (no spaces when using them for real , like I did above), so don’t have any extra characters or the link won’t work.
As I stated in other messages, this forum software mostly uses bbCode tags. Most other boards do as well, it’s a common standard. Everyone keeps complaining about the change, the fact of the matter is, Snitz Forums was relaly the oddballa nd unliek most of the rest of what you come across out there. This is much more in line with other forums and I welcome the change, it’s one less thing to remember “Oh yeah, I’m on MR so I can’t do this” is now a thing of the past.
Kinda reminds me os the DCC argument about which is ‘easier’. Let’s see, there’s a POST button, a REPLY button - wow, ok so it’s not in exactly the same spot on the screen, but it works EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT USED TO! It’s not like the words got changed to something else, or instead of buttons to click on you have to type wierd Control-Key combinations.
There is a subtle difference in the results of the two methods, at least when you Firefox. The first example opens the link in my existing browser session and I can use the back icon. The second example opens an entirely new browser session. Not stating a preference, just pointing out a difference.
Okay. Using the “link” tag had one difference. I had pop-ups blocked and the “link” (with the “link” tag) would not open. I temporarily allowed the pop-up and then clicking on the “link” opened the URL in another window.
Works for me. So, for me, using XP and IE6, I can either paste the link/URL address directly into the editor of the post and post it, or I can use the methods first described and both work just fine.
WHich is why in Firefox the second one opens a new browser window or new tab depending on your settings, and the first one does not. Of course with Firefox there’s always the alternate, I have mine configured so that if I click my moust wheel instead of the left button, it opens any link in another tab.
