New here ... maybe this has been discussed before, but ...

UPDATE … it seems that the position of the buttons on the Atlas Controllers has everything to do with whether or not power gets through to the rails … and now that my oldest son saw that right away when he came by a few days back … and set them properly … PRESTO! … we are running again.

Thanks again to all of you for offering helpful suggestions … now I can get back to scenery and detailing … slow and steady …

I should have thought of that. I had the same problem before but I figured it out in a second because it was only one switch not making contact while the other blocks were fine.

Update: All segments of the layout are now back in operation … thanks to all of you who responded, and all of the helpful suggestions … nowI can get back to creating the scenery and adding the landscaping … while enjoying watching the trains run !!!

Will try to post some pictures as I go along … lots of 'em on my facebook page, if interested … just look for my name (Ray Brotbeck), and let me know what you think …

Sounds like my Iphone. I upgraded to 9.3 and it would no longer ring for incoming calls. You would think Apple help forums would be useful, you would be thinking wrong. Call Verizon? Is the sound off?..no, Do not disturb on?..no.

Turns out there is a little button on the left side of the phone, which mutes the ringer. I never use it, and it’s hard to push, but somehow I did.

Haha I keep mine permantly silenced, I hate ringing phones. The buzz and flashing is plenty.

And, I had to show my Dad where said switch was… He needed to silence his phone for a meeting, and thought he could just turn the volume off with the volume buttons on the side. When his phone went off, during said meeting, he realized that the volume buttons don’t mute his ringtone.

Now, when he has meetings, he can and does mute his ringtone.

I’m glad to hear that your problem was solved without having to install a whole bunch of new feeders (nothing wrong with more feeders mind you). The odds are that had you gone to all that trouble the problem would have still been there. That would have been pretty frustrating! Congratulations to your son for his skills of observation.

Happy model railroading!

Dave

I use the Atlas controllers, from my previous layout, which was 2 cab DC. When they are new, you can feel the “click” when you move from one position to the other. Mine were bought in the mid 80’s, and it’s hard to feel that, and I look more at the position on the button.

Mike.

Go Big Red. Sounds like you got to the root. Having an electrical test meter (Volt/Ohm meter) can help you check where the continuity problems lie also by testing different parts of the power feed.
