Looks like a very nice design!
The last scene of the video looks promising: can we expect a new Kato P40/42 in h0 scale FINALLY… ???

I really can’t get excited about Kato any more. Have more than a normal number of their HO engines, mostly SD40-2 mid production units but they don’t act like they care or know you when you go there for help.’ They have not answered my emails so I will not spend anymore with them.

For me that brought back memories of the Mantua MU2 in-truck motor.
I do not think they answer email, calling is best.
They do a good job of having parts in stock and mail them out very quickly. On the other hand, Walthers always responds to email. Unfortunately the response is they never have parts available. [xx(]
I wonder how they will service this new drive train. If only as a unit it will be expensive to repair a split gear. Hopefully they will sell the individual components separately.
I can’t say anything about Kato’s email responses since I’ve always dealt with them by phone and I have always recieved courteous and prompt service from them. Some companies just don’t like email, try the phone.
I have never had a plit gear issue from Kato.
Amazing
Basically its like a pair of PDT’s with an empty heavy chassis, the possibilities are awesome! [:D]
Just as long as pulling all that weight isn’t too hard on the motors. Somebody gets a loco heavy enough to do some serious pulling and they suddenly want it pulling a really long train. Hard working motors develop quite a bit of heat and core-less motors don’t like heat. They don’t have an iron core to help absorb and dissipate it. Hence the name ‘core-less’.
DCC, really decent speakers, and Li-Po battery pak could be really interesting. DCC signal through the rails but motor and Dcc power from the battery, or a radio direct system such as Ring’s rail Pro.
