The NL,W&S dates prior to 1870 before it became part of the Central Vermont.
The line really went from New London to Willimantic to Palmer, MA - it crosses the B&A in Palmer, far east of Springfield.
This is now the New England Central and is active all the way to Vermont.
The only railroads in Springfield were the New Haven, Boston and Maine and Boston and Albany.
