New MA&G Website!! Videos! 100+ Photos! Track Plans!

Hey Guys!

I am so excited to announce my new MA&G website at

www.magnoliaroute.com

My previous site had 10 MB of space - the new one has 10 GIGS!! I have always wanted to be a “dot com” and now it has finally happened. For the past four weeks I have spent many long hours creating my website which includes many things I did not have space/capabilities for before. These include:

  1. Printable track plans (multi color or b/w)
  2. Five photo galleries with over 100 large images
  3. A Video Library with 4 chapters which cover my entire second level with titles and music!
  4. A Guest Book
  5. A Visitor Counter
  6. Direct e-mail to me

I think you will be impressed with what you see and enjoy your visit. On each of the 100+ photos, I include commentary covering modeling techniques, materials and products used. At some point in the future, I plan on taping some mini-clinics which you can view there also.

Putting this together with the photography has been as exciting for me as building my actual layout. This June I will be presenting my first NMRA clinic at the South Eastern Region (SER) convention in Memphis. I am currently working on a PowerPoint presentation which will incorporate many photos from my website. It would be great to see some of you there. Any SER members out there?

As I have mentioned on this forum before, my MA&G will be featured in Great Model Railroads 2007 which will be out this October.

By the way, if you have visited my old website, you will find that 90% of the photos are new and many actually include TRAINS!!

I hope each of you will check out the new website and sign my guest book with your comments.

One word. Brilliant [bow]

Very nice site!

One suggestion, if I may be so bold - how about a “music off” button for those of us who browse from a cubicle?

Cliff,
I’m looking for the right word… “incredible” just doesn’t do it justice! Your attention
to detail is bordering on obsessive![:D] The best compliment I can think of right off
is it reminds me of small towns that I have seen in real life. I am close to starting
my newest layout and I will be looking to your website for ideas and inspiration.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Dave

I’m now going to quit modeling and take up something I can be good at. Your work is truly intimidating. Congrats on the new website. Great pics and videos. I look forward to seeing your work in print!

What they said plus…!

Excellent site and amazing modeling! The grass in the first video (the only ine I’ve looked at so far) is truly outstanding. I would agree with Mark about killing the sound on the video page. We have to wait 'til the music is over to hear the engine unless we download the video to our local machine before playing it.

Take the rest of the day off and run some trains!

i second this suggestion , in fact i didn’t look at the rest of the site after i found that the music started playing on every page . my loss , it’s a great looking site , and a gorgeous layout

What a treat going thru your website. The site itself is impressive and very well layed out. The layout is superb. I will be visiting your website often for inspiration. When I signed the guest book I asked for some additional info on your Tooth pick fence posts and barbed wire. I grew up on a dairy farm and will have a farm on my new layout. I was wondering how you did the posts and the barbed wire. Tks for the trip.

Very nice site and an incredible layout! I will certainly be visiting your site for inspiration while doing my scenery.

One request though. Could you add a control for the user to turn off the sound??? I generally just turn off a site with sound but muting it works…just turns off my MP3 player as well. [8D]

This has got to be one of the finest layouts and websites that I have ever seen! I am a George Sellios Franklin and Manchester fan and I love what he has done with his layout and his kits are fantastic . They do tend to be a little overwhelming with detail. But they are mostly big city where yours is more small town and country which is more my style. The level of your layout is so believable and everything blends in nicely. Although I am a bluegrass fan I found that the music was a little distracting in the videos with the sound equipped engine.[:)] Great Layout! Jim

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and constructive comments. I have removed the background music from every page. My wife said, “See, I told you the music was too much!”. I have to agree with the general concensus, though. As to the videos, the music and sound really adds so much to the presentation. If the sound is objectionable, there should be a volume slide control on your Media Player to turn down or shut off the sound for those of you browsing at work. (can’t let the boss find out, now can we!) [;)]

Another visitor commented that the captions under the photos were difficult to read against the background. I have also corrected this by adding gradient text boxes to the captions. Now they are much easier to read.

Hope these changes increase your enjoyment of my website!

Thanks for visiting!!!

Congratulations. It is a joy to see what the talent and abilities of someone such as yourself can accomplish. I think that, like many others, I will return again and again to your website just for the pleasure of looking. Thanks for sharing and look forward to seeing more of your work.

Excellent work, you have captured a true era and locale that’s truely realistic, the videos feel like watching a movie.

Excellent work! [bow]

I think we have had the bar raised.

If I could make a suggestion, the music imposes on the experience: it is too loud for my tastes. It should be background sound only, so please reduce the volume by about 40%.

Beautiful layout and website Cliff.

Thanks for the look.

Very impressive indeed, especially your use of panoramic photo backdrops. Certainly yours is one of the more believable looking layouts around.

I’d be interested to know what you used to impart that vaguely yellowi***one, implying age, to some of your signs and billboards.
