New pics of quarry near completion by Red Horse

Hello folks, it’s very late but I wanted to post the work I finished today, hope you like them.

The pit is the color of pipe stone when its dry,

I kit bashed the operations tower using some old girder type bridges and an army look out tower,

Close up of tower and hoppers,

Alittle work down in the pit,

Got to have the water truck,

Here we have a nice level view with the pit gate open,

Some activity going on here.

This is a shot of the long truck,

I still need a few more details like putting in the dirt roads and the tar roads as well, notice that the entire pit has a security fence around it, too easy to be sued today.

And I finally found the pic that I lost in the computer, this is the start of the layout, notice holes for Quarry and lake cut out.

Well thats all folks, I’m off to bed, long day at play.

thanks for checking out my latest pics…there you go Cuda Ken, you aske

Looking good, Jess! [tup]

But how the heck do the trucks get in and out of there??? [:-^] Do they have those springy things like Speed Racer’s Mach 5? [;)] Just wonderin’.

I’m thinking there would be a grade, or ramp, cut around the edge of one of the pit walls, to allow the trucks, crews, the Boss, etc. access in and out of the pit.

Keep on keepin’ on, dude…and keep having fun! [:)] It sure is coming along!

It’s simple silly, all the trucks and work mens shoes have real sticky rubber on them , they just walk or drive up the side…DAH!

Actually I havent built the wood ramp yet, but I do like your idea better, hummmm, I wonder if Kadee sells those Speed racer springs…[:-^]

LOL…I can see them hopping out of the quarry! BOING! [:D]

The ramp would probably not be made from wood, but rather cut into the side of the quarry itself.

Something like the Bowers Mine - Portland’s first ever underground mine - Opened October 2002

Looking good. You are making faster progress than I am.

Around here in the Barre granite quarries they lift a full size excavator in and out with the same cranes they lift the blocks of granite with. Never have seen it, but talked to the operator of the excavator. These holes are deep and no way to ramp in and out.

Have fun,
