New Pittsburgh area books

I’ve always been fascinated by the Pittsburgh area, its railroads and industries. I hold it in the same regard as many do Chicago. I’ve just become aware of two books on the area. The first, which I just got a couple of days ago, is Vol 2 on the Union RR. I already had Vol 1. They are written by a local author named Wayne Cole. While a bit rough around the edges, they are a wealth of information on both the Union RR and the US Steel mills that it services.
The second book, which I just ordered, is on the Pennsy’s Conway Yard. It’s published by the PRR historical society. If it’s anywhere near up to their regular standards, it should be great. Both are available from a major online retailer named Ron’s Books, out of New York.

I don’t know if this volume is in your library. I came across it at a used book seller.

I wasn’t aware of that one. I’ll have to check into it. We share many of the same book titles. I found the Pennsy Diesels book on the right to be fascinating, the way that it describes the dieselization process. My uncle bought me the B&LE when I was barely a teen. I’m 66 now, so it’s one of my oldest possessions.
