When I first heard about this my first thought was “UPS has locos?” But no, UPS is UP’s new reporting mark for slugs. UP’s relettering slugs from UPY into the new UPS reporting mark.

Now all they have to do to really confuse the issue is to paint their slugs a really ugly shade of brown…
Chuck
Hey, why not? UP used brown instead of gray on its early streamliners, like the M-10000.
I thought UP started doing this between 5 and 10 years ago.

I thought the Pointy Haired Boss would be first in line to stir it.[:)]

The PHB should be in it.
And here I was thinking that UPS purchased their own intermodal flats or maybe Roadrailers! But then I realized that would be UPSX since they’re not a railroad…
Hey! [:(!]
Interesting news…
I read in the past that UPS was the single largest coustomer of the railroad industry. Not moving their trailers and such but, rather UPS logistics shipping petro chemicals, coal and the like. I have often wondered why UPS has not bought a large stake in one of the big three railroads,or even an ocean cargo outfit. It is my understanding that UPS has a love hate relationship with the railroad, as the timely shipment of packages are delayed do to problems on the rail. They tried to have a coast to coast bullet train set up with UP,or BNSF at one time, but I think it fell thru because UPS was unwilling to compansate the railroad for trains that were delayed in order for the bullet train to make it’s way.
