New to the forum and a Milwaukee Road modeler

I am new to the forums in this day and age. I was on the forums about 9 years ago and dropped out when i started my railroad career. Now that things are set and am in to modeling again, i figured it was time to check out the forums once again.

I model the Milwaukee Road in proto 48 O scale. Have been doing so for about 6 years ever since I decided to drop HO. I wanted one-of-a-kind models that make people turn heads, something that I just didnt get in HO. So I have slowly been working on the Twin cities, Olympian, and pioneer limited trains. I have a thing for the Milwaukees electrics as well and have a Bipolar, Little joe (E21) and steeple cab in the mix of things.

Most of these started off as old Walthers kits that have been heavily modified with scratch built interiors. Milwaukee Road Diner #121 (Used on the twin cities hiawatha) was entered into an O scale contest last march and took first place over the other 7 passenger cars entered. I have about a months worth of work into the interior.

The kitchen end took the majority of the building process.

And then the dining area which sat 48 people.

And then the Bipolar which will take over operations of the Olympian once the train reaches Harlowton, MT

The Olypian Hiawathas premier tail car. The 8 Bedroom Skytop. complete interior, custom painted, and the rear mars light does light up.

Sorry for the pho

Beautiful work there, James. Looking forward to seeing more of it.[tup][Y]

No! More, more, more!

I freelance the Milwaukee in HO. Love that bi-polar.

Thank you for the warm welcoming! I have plenty more in the making with the priest rapids in the building process. I have 7 complete passenger cars and another 24 to build!! :stuck_out_tongue:  The bipolar is an awesome addition I picked up a couple of years ago. My recent electric is a little joe getting rebuilt and painted for E21. I will have more pictures to come.

My favorite railroad!

What area are you modeling (assuing you have a layout that is)

mine too!! [:D]

i have actually posted in the layout forum of the model railroad am getting some great feedback on it. I’m still getting the (must be approved but a moderator for each post) thingy. So kinda waiting on that but I have many pictures coming and updates. Thank you!

Here’s another quick pick. E7A #20A. I had to completely rebuild the nose on this engine. Started life as an Overland E7. I modified the number boards, added the class lights, built the bottom nose light with the double light housing. And rebuilt the pilot to match the prototype. I am in the process of rebuilding the gear box and adding a core less motor so that tsunami soundtraxx can be run in it. I have custom painted the loco in the 1952 paint scheme and that pin stripe… Ugh. That’s chart pack.

Welcome to the forum,

Impressive work you have there. You probably already know Yahoo has a Milwaukee Road Group. I would not want you to quit posting here but just in case you need some specifics they are there and fairly active.

Bob.

hi bob. I had no idea that there was a yahoo group. I will have to check that out. I certainly am not planning on leaving. Trying to expand on my modeling skills and learning from others what I can do to improve the hobby. Right now got a plan in the layout section getting many ideas. Thanks!
