Newbie Question about realistic scenery and operations w/ 3 rail

I’m not new to model railroading, but still pretty new to Lionel “O” railroading. I have an “N” scale layout in progress. My goal there is realism in operation and scenery etc. Do some of you do similar with 3 rail, or is that left to the 2 rail guys ? I already have 3 engines, that I like in 3 rail, so I don’t want to switch at this point. Thanks in advance for feedback. Dave

You mean like this?

Chuck N: is that your web site? Really nice !
Dave : Alot of guys strive for the scale effects as in the other gauges, and some are into the nostalgic older type layouts, so here in O, I always say, " Anything Goes". I like to try to scratchbuild some stuctures, & I like the plastic ones too.
Have fun at whatever you like to do !

Chuck N, that is a really nice layout. As John said, is that yours? I like the D&H Lashup.

“Chuck N: is that your web site?”

I wish.

Did anybody hit the “Contact the Superintedant” link near the bottom of the page.

Another beautiful 3 rail layout is Joe Lesser’s JLATSF. It’s been featured in CTT and in the Kalmbach publication “Realistic Railroading with Toy Trains” by Pete Youngblood and Joe Lesser.

Here is a link to Norm Charbonneau’s layout photo’s:
