Newest finished project - Baldwin "Babyface"

I’ve been working on this one for a while and finally got it finished this week!

Installing the fine detail kit and making the shell work together with the chassis took some work, but I think the most difficult part for me was painting it. It turned out well in the end though! The shell came from Pacific Northwest Resins, the detail kit is from KV Models, and the chassis is from Hobbytown. The shell was designed for a Proto 2000 chassis, but it didn’t take too much modification to make it work with the other chassis!

Nice job Darth. I was not familiar with this loco. Thanks for sharing!

I had done a full aba set. Each unit having one of the three cnj paint jobs. Using the same shell and kv details. But used the p2k chassis. Still can’t find the proper curved strip for the nose. Nor the proper yellow to do a mask and paint.
True color paint I take it?

Well Done!!![bow]

Nice job, Darth. I’ve heard of Baldwin babyface diesels but don’t think I’d ever seen one. The name fits! Your locos always look as good as they run. Dan

What an incredible amount of detail. It looks so realistic!

I’d never try to paint my own loco.

Thanks![:)]

NVSRR, I used Scalecoat II and Modelflex paint. I normally don’t use Modelflex since it’s such a pain compared to other paints, but they were the ones who had the color available this time.

kasskaboose, it’s amazing what a high quality detail set can do for a model! getting to the level where I can paint something like this has taken a long time, but there are still plenty of others who are far better at painting than me. It takes a lot of practice and patience!
