look at the size of that station.

I have the good fortune of living near Nick and have had the pleasure of visiting his layout several times. The train room itself is well worth a visit and his modeling is simply superb! If you get the opportunity to visit, don’t pass it up.

He’s in washington right?

I’d like to go visit, I wish I could find an old BN f unit cab to use. I’d love to have SP&S 802, and take care of that loco.

Would really like to see some closeups of the station.

Sure! I loved that station, I wish I had the space for one like that on my layout.

Nick’s groundhog is obviously not fully baked, but that is the fuel for greatness and achievement way beyond the norm comes from. I’m in awe of his modeling, art, and design skills. I’d sure like to see more of this wonderful pike.

agreed!

There were quite a few in the article that went with the video. The video was part of the MRH magazine coverage.

I too have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Muff’s layout many times. Howard Zane (buy his book!) and Dr. Muff share the view that Model Railroading can be a true art form.

Nick has posted several of his own videos on youtube on the “art of modeling” heading. Maybe someone else knows specific links, etc. I am in awe every time I have had the good fortune of visiting.

His Kansas City Union Station model is world class. Truly. I was disappointed that more of the interior wasn’t shown in some videos. Magazine stands with books on them, fruit stands with fruit, complet furnishings, wall treatments, you name it. Museum quality.

It’s a shame that he’s not much better known than he is. He’s a prolific MRing author but I don’t believe Model Railroader Magazine has ever had a feature on him (but has published some track side pics).

He’s (in my book) on the level of many of our better known “heroes” He’s also a very giving guy who’s more than willing to tell you how he acheived something and what techniques he used, etc.

Jim

I recall an article in Model Railroader on Dr. Muffs unusual model railroad, Thanks BN 24 for posting this link for a tour of his layout!

anytime NP, need something obscure and not commonly found. I’m the guy to go to, that’s how I got all of these random not made anymore BN Kato sets, E units, etc. I’ve even found places with F3’s. [(-D]

If there was a full feature article on Dr. Muff’s layout in MR please let me know what the issue’s date was? I’m pretty certain that he told me that MR never featured him in a full article just trackside photos section pics from time to time.

Thanks, Jim
