Hard to understand the need for the security screening AFTER the game -
G
Joe Durso? The same one who wrote a book called Baseball and the American Dream?
over reaction…nfl shuttles what a scam goodell
Screening? Really? Why not just do what Amtrak does everyday with their K9 patrol?
Wonder if the same guy who came up with the screening plan was the guy who left all the equipment in the meadowlands during the hurricane?
Kudos for moving 34,000 people in a couple of hours, though. That would have taken 9 lanes of highway (at two per car)
Full story of the poor planning and dumb security efforts needs to be told. Why did rail folks listen to NFL predictions, didn’t they know what the potential ridership would be? Shuttles are ALWAYS a disaster…direct service is what was needed.
The thundersnow that hit New York after the game was William Wallace Atterbury and Alexander Johnson Cassatt weeping.
The after the game “security screening” was needed, being there’s no guarantee every person who used the station was a “fan” attending the game! All it takes is one person to “slip in” unnoticed" and then what? It 's a shame the world we live in today has changed our lives. Seriously, does anyone have a better idea?
As far as the crowds, all leaving the stadium or any stadium for that matter for subways, trains, parking lots creates a “gridlock” situation. One has to be patient in these situations. Next time: Stay home and enjoy it on television.
Next time maybe they’ll be smart and let people drive to the game and enjoy the tailgating.
It is interesting that people expect 34,800 people to be whisked away like magic back to where they came from. Newspapers here in the NY / NJ area have been on the attack all week over this, yet not one has been honest, the fans showed up at the transfer station early in the day starting around 10:30 AM and they milled around because the first train was to roll sometime after 1 PM. We then take a look at the fact that the game started at 6:30 PM, so it took all of about five hours to move them to the stadium, the NFL predict 8 to 12,000 would ride the trains not 34,800. What is interesting being that over half of the stadium parking was reserved for satellite up link vehicles which meant that a lot of people had to find there way to the game. So one has to wonder how many trains were needed? How much rail traffic could the seven mile line handle and the transfer station, even with the right information you need time to move that many people period.
But a big thank you goes to the NJ taxpayer being that they footed an 8 million dollar bill for the game, and the final joke the NFL is a non profit organization so please take the game anywhere you want it is loser here in the northeast.
It’s probably a good thing that none of the teams in the northeastern area made it to the game. the traffic and commuting situation would have been far worse. Give the Broncos a pat on the back for defeating the Patriots two weeks before then to reduce the potential traffic woes. For folks like Robert Mc Guire, there would have been plenty of tailgating, especially after the games at toll booths and police sobriety check points.
